The European Parliament's "International Trade Committee" (INTA) will visit Taiwan from the 18th to the 21st with a delegation led by Anna-Michelle Asimakopoulou, the vice-chairman of Greece.

[Reporter Yang Chengyu/Report from Taipei] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today (16) that the European Parliament's "International Trade Committee" (INTA) has organized an official delegation that will visit Taiwan from the 18th to the 21st of this month.

The INTA delegation was led by Anna-Michelle Asimakopoulou, vice-chairman of the committee and Greek.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sincere welcome to the delegation led by Vice Chairman Asimaco Polo to visit Taiwan.  

In addition to Asima Coppolo, the delegation included Jörgen Warborn and Karin Karlsbro from Sweden, Kathleen Van Brempt from Belgium, Marie-Pierre Vedrenne from France, There are 7 members of the European Parliament with cross-party groups including Michiel Hoogeveen and Reinhard Bütikofer from Germany, as well as 13 officials from the General Office of the Secretariat of the European Parliament and relevant party group policy advisors.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the INTA delegation will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier Su Zhenchang, and Legislative Yuan You Xikun during their stay in Taiwan, and receive a banquet hosted by Foreign Minister Wu Zhaoxie; Officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Economic and Trade Negotiation Office will also visit industrial technology research institutes and semiconductor companies, etc.; look forward to discussing bilateral trade and investment between Taiwan and the EU, possible future cooperation areas, Taiwan-EU Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA) and other issues with the Chinese government Competent officials and experts exchanged in-depth views. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that this ITC delegation is the third consecutive official visit to Taiwan by the European Parliament since last year, which fully demonstrates the high importance and support that the European Parliament attaches to my country.

The European Parliament has passed the Taiwan Friendship Resolution eight times this year. The overall bilateral relations and cooperation and exchanges between Taiwan and the EU have continued to deepen recently, and the support of the European Parliament is indispensable.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work hand in hand with the EU and like-minded partners to continue to deepen the solid and friendly relations between the two sides, jointly safeguard the rules-based international trading system, and enhance the resilience and well-being of the global democratic community.
