The European Union has imposed sanctions on several Russian TV channels.

APA reports that this was reflected in the 9th package of sanctions approved by the EU against Russia.

"In response to the Russian Federation's systematic, international disinformation and information manipulation campaign aimed at destabilizing neighboring countries, the EU and member states, the Council has initiated the process of suspending the broadcast licenses of four additional media outlets. Among them, N TV / N TV Mir, Rossiya 1, REN TV and "First "channel". These media outlets are under permanent direct or indirect control of the leadership of the Russian Federation and are used by the Russian Federation for continuous and coordinated disinformation and war propaganda activities that legitimize Russian aggression and weaken support for Ukraine.

It was noted that, in accordance with the Charter of Fundamental Rights, although these measures do not allow those media organizations and their employees to broadcast in the EU territory, they will not prevent them from carrying out other activities, for example, investigations and interviews.
