After damage to several objects of the capital's critical infrastructure, the city has a shortage of electricity supply and damage to power grids.

This was announced by the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko.

According to him, city services are working to return heat and water to all residents of the capital by morning.

Power engineers are working to stabilize the energy supply system.

Klitschko informed that due to damage to the energy system and emergency power outages, subway trains will not run today.

At the same time, underground stations work as shelters.

"Today, buses run on a regular schedule in the city, as well as those bus routes that work to replace trolleybuses. We now have more than 500 of them. Tomorrow, additional buses will be launched in the capital that will duplicate tram routes. In addition, the city will organize bus traffic, which will partially duplicate the routes of the metro. Private carriers of Kyiv have been instructed to increase the number of buses on routes in the route taxi mode. Special attention is paid to routes that duplicate electric transport: metro, trolleybus, tram," the mayor informed.

Attack on the Kyiv region

On Friday, December 16, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, including the capital.

According to Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, Kyiv withstood one of the largest missile attacks since the start of the full-scale invasion. 

As the President of Ukraine reported,

more than 40 Russian missiles were destroyed

in the sky of the central regions of the country and near Kyiv.

In connection with the damage to the energy infrastructure after the missile strikes 

, there were interruptions in water supply in all areas of the capital

Emergency blackouts were also introduced.
