Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to use two levers at once to obtain territorial concessions from Ukraine.

Analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War (

ISW

) write about this.

Experts believe that the Russian dictator is carrying out offensive actions around Bakhmut and Avdiyivka, as well as launching missile strikes on critical infrastructure in order to force Ukraine to negotiate on his terms.

ISW noted that after the retreat from Kherson, the Russian Federation began an active offensive in Donbas.

Analysts claim that Putin has ordered his troops to liberate the entire Donetsk region, and the constant attacks in the Bakhmut area and in the west of Donetsk region are being carried out precisely for this purpose.

The Kremlin hopes that offensive actions will exhaust Ukrainian troops and they will lose the ability to defend their territory, so Kyiv will be forced to make concessions to the dictator, which will give time to prepare a new offensive.

Russian attacks on energy infrastructure are also aimed at forcing Ukraine to capitulate or negotiate with Moscow.

However, experts are sure that these two levers will not force Kyiv to give in.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine retain the initiative on the battlefield after the liberation of Kharkiv Oblast and Kherson.

"In this way, Putin can create the conditions for a third, successive military operation in the event that these two attempts fail to achieve their goals by preparing for a new offensive in Ukraine in the winter of 2023," the analysts write.

ISW experts write that there are indeed all signs that Russia is preparing a new offensive operation in the winter of 2023, as it has begun to bring military equipment to the front line.

The ISW also said that winter will help the Ukrainian and Russian troops in their offensive operations.

We will remind, it was previously reported that the adviser of the President's Office, Oleksiy Arestovych, said that

one military operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could change the plans of the Russian army command

regarding the offensive of the 200,000-strong group.

In addition, we previously informed that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi warned: the Russians are training about 200,000 new soldiers and will definitely go on the offensive, possibly

again to go to Kyiv.
