US PRESIDENT Joe Biden has announced plans to visit countries south of the Sahara Desert soon as it is a US strategy to expand its presence in the region and counter the influence of Russia and China.

"We will all be seeing you and you will see many of us," Biden told nearly 50 African leaders when he attended the third day of the US-Africa summit in the US capital.

The visit will be the first for Biden to South of the Sahara Desert since he became President.

It would be his first official visit to the continent, aside from a brief stopover in Egypt in November.

Biden has focused on his foreign visits to Asian and European countries in the two years he has been President, as he wants to strengthen Indo-Pacific relations and coordinate western unity against Russia, and more quickly China.
