(Central News Agency) Russian authorities said two people were killed and five others were injured in a fire at an oil refinery in eastern Siberia today.

In recent months, in Russia, news of fires in various facilities such as shopping centers and factories has been extremely frequent.

The fire broke out at an oil refinery in the eastern Siberian city of Angarsk around 6 a.m. local time, authorities said, AFP reported.

Igor Kobzev, governor of Angarsk city in Irkutsk region, said two people were killed and five were injured, including one sent to hospital.

Kobzev quoted the emergency center on Telegram as saying the fire was believed to be caused by "gas pollution".

Investigators have opened a criminal probe into possible violations of industry safety norms.
