The Netherlands is facing elections in the spring, and because some of the support for the local government is from extremist parties, they cannot lose it.

Refusal of Schengen is an excellent Christmas present from the Netherlands to Russia.

So people feel less European.

This is what MEP Andrey Novakov said for "Your Day".

Andrey Novakov is a Bulgarian politician from the GERB party and MEP in the European People's Group.

"The behavior of the Netherlands was un-European and unfair. However, in addition to admitting that Bulgaria was treated unfairly in this case, we must get out of the role of victim. I hope Bulgarian politicians learn a lesson and realize that by spitting on the country, it doesn't matter who you blame , it goes back to everyone else. They were explaining about corruption and how badly the state is run, so now when they hear it from the Netherlands, they have no right to be angry," he is emphatic.

The European Economic and Social Committee adopted a declaration on the membership of Bulgaria and Romania in Schengen

He gave the example of suspicions of corruption that led to arrests in the EP.

"No one puts a label on the whole country because of the suspect. A person is responsible for his actions. When it comes to Schengen, the Mobility package or any other topic of national interest, all Bulgarian MEPs become one. We have to bring a little bit of this to our country, to enter Schengen is good for people, it is neither left nor right. We must talk about the problems, but not attribute them to the whole country," emphasized Novakov.
