Every citizen can apply for and receive a criminal record certificate electronically from anywhere in the country, regardless of their location and address registration, and regardless of whether they have been convicted or not.

Thus the Minister of Justice Krum Zarkov

Krum Zarkov was born on November 21, 1982. Graduated from the 9th French language high school "Alphonse de presented today the new electronic service that the Ministry of Justice provides through a centralized automated information system "Judicial Status" (CAIS), the Ministry of Justice announced.

He recalled that until now, citizens could apply for and receive a criminal record certificate via the Internet and by electronic signature only in cases in which they have not been convicted.

"With the upgrade of the CAIS, the scope of the official and electronic certificate for citizens has been expanded, with the provision of issuance for convicted persons as well as for persons born outside the territory of the country who possess Bulgarian citizenship," said Zarkov.

Head of the "Specialized Information Systems and Electronic Services" department at the Ministry of Justice, Lyubov Boncheva, added that applications can be submitted and received both with an electronic signature, as well as with the NRA's PIK and cloud-based KEP, and the issued criminal record certificates contain a QR code, guaranteeing their authenticity before the authorities for which they are intended.

The updated system is now linked to ECRIS (European Criminal Records System).

Thus, the information about convicted Bulgarian citizens on the territory of EU countries will be recorded in a timely manner in the "Judicial Status" system and will be available to all criminal justice bureaus.

The migration of data with the information system "Execution of punishments" will significantly shorten the time it takes to receive an answer to the criminal records bureaus as to whether a person has served his sentence.

Zarkov: There is a serious threat that we will not receive funds under the Recovery Plan

The Unified Information System of the Courts will also be included in "Judicial Status", thus the bulletins on criminal records from all over the country will be received directly there.

Minister Zarkov thanked the Supreme Judicial Council for the assistance it provided in the communication with 113 district courts in the country in connection with the process of migrating the data from the criminal record bureaus.

The Chairman of the Pernik District Court - Mihail Alexov specified that automation is also planned, which will remind when rehabilitation has occurred and this circumstance will be immediately reflected in the criminal record bulletins.

He stated that with the work of the upgraded CAIS, the commitment of the district courts to keep a large turnover of documents, which is a burden for every administration, also disappears.
