Unidentified assailants shot dead a 38-year-old man in Bilaspur district.

Bilaspur:

A 38-year-old man facing more than two dozen criminal cases was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district on Wednesday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajendra Jaiswal said that the incident took place on Turkadih bypass of Sakri police station area.

The ASP said that the assailants fired indiscriminately at Sanju Tripathi, a resident of Bilaspur, at around 4.15 pm when he was traveling in a four-wheeler.

The ASP said that the victim died on the spot. He said that twenty-seven criminal cases are pending against the victim.

Jaiswal said that on receiving information about the firing incident, a police team along with senior officers reached the spot and a massive search was launched to nab the unknown assailants.

President of Bilaspur District Congress Committee Vijay Kesharwani told that according to his information, Sanju Tripathi was once active in Youth Congress, but at present he did not hold any position in the party.
