On December 15, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Kubanichbek Omuraliyev.



The Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA that Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who first congratulated Kubanichbek Omuraliyev on his election as Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, wished him success in his responsible work and expressed his confidence that he will contribute to the further expansion of mutual activities within the framework of the organization.

The minister spoke about the importance of high-level meetings, emphasizing that the Organization of Turkic States has made great progress since the Nakhchivan Summit in 2009, and that its importance at the international level has increased even more today.

Against the background of the rapid processes taking place in the world, it was stated that the organization is an important platform in order to effectively organize the fight against new challenges that have arisen, or to realize new opportunities for the sake of the interests of our peoples and states.

It was emphasized that our country attaches great importance to cooperation with member countries of the organization, and strengthening mutual relations in all fields is one of the main priorities of our foreign policy.

Also, at the meeting, Minister J. Bayramov spoke about the deliberate destruction, looting and appropriation of the cultural heritage of our country as a result of nearly 30 years of aggression by Armenia against Azerbaijan.

Also, he pointed out that the purposeful mining of our territories during the past period is an indicator of Armenia's imitation of negotiations during these years.

Kubanichbek Omuraliyev highly appreciated the active activity and support of Azerbaijan within the framework of the organization.

He emphasized that the new opportunities that will arise in the region with the opening of communication and transport hubs will serve to further expand the economic potential among the member states.

In the meeting, it was noted with satisfaction that the city of Shusha was declared the "cultural capital of the Turkish world" for 2023.

There was an exchange of views on the joint events to be hosted by the city of Shusha.
