16-year-old Indian-American boy's bicycle, phone and backpack found on Golden Gate Bridge...

Washington:

An Indian-American teen allegedly jumped off San Francisco's famous 'Golden Gate Bridge', and has died.

Kishore's parents and US Coast Guard officials gave this information.

He told that a 16-year-old boy's bicycle, phone and backpack were found on the bridge.

It is believed that the Class 12 student jumped off the bridge at around 4:58 pm on Tuesday.

The Coast Guard said that they launched a search and rescue operation after receiving information about 'somebody' jumping from the bridge.

The chances of the boy's survival are slim.

Community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria said that this is the fourth case of an Indian-American allegedly jumping from the Golden Bridge in an attempt to commit suicide.

According to 'Bridge Rail Foundation', last year 25 people committed suicide by jumping from here.

Since the opening of the bridge in 1937, about 2,000 suicide cases have been reported here.

The state government is working to install a 20 feet wide iron net on both sides of the 1.7 mile long bridge.

Its work was to be completed by January this year, but it has not been done yet.

Its construction cost has increased from $ 13.72 million to about $ 38.66 million.

The work on this project started in 2018.
