In Transcarpathia, two people died after inhaling carbon monoxide from a generator.

He was working in a closed garage and people were sleeping nearby.

In general, with the beginning of the heating season, rescuers say, almost fifty people almost died due to carbon monoxide.

What mistakes in heating apartments can cost lives, says TSN.

For the first time since the beginning of winter, Maria and Roman will spend the night in a warm house.

They do not have central heating.

Like many in Transcarpathia, they have a gas boiler, but it works with electricity.

So during blackouts the batteries are cold.

After two months of regular blackouts, the couple decided to buy a generator.

They will use a generator for the first time in their lives.

Connecting is not the main thing.

It is more important to use the generator correctly, rescuers say.

Since the beginning of the heating season, 5 people ended up in the hospital, inhaling carbon monoxide emitted by a working electric generator.

Two people died this week.

"The generator was connected in the garage. The family was in an adjacent room. There was a flow of these carbon monoxide gases, as a result of which poisoning and the corresponding death occurred," said Mykhailo Mostovy, a representative of the State Emergency Service in Zakarpattia Oblast.

Doctors say that the symptoms of poisoning appear quickly.

A person falls asleep and does not wake up.

"The carbon monoxide fills the space extremely quickly. Time usually passes very quickly, from the primary headache and dizziness to complete loss of consciousness, convulsions and death," warns doctor Andriy Semediy.

In order to avoid a tragedy, it is necessary to remember the main rules of operation of generators.

If there is no special ventilation system, it is advisable to connect them only outdoors.

Balconies and loggias are not suitable.

It is strictly forbidden to pour fuel into a working generator or one that has not had time to cool down.

You can leave the device on at least six meters from the walls.

Rescuers remind those who have caught fire to install a fireplace or a stove in their home: for this, the home must have a working chimney.

Otherwise, you can pay with your life.

Since the beginning of autumn, almost fifty people from Zakarpattia have been able to do so.

Experts urge not to experiment, but to strictly follow the rules for using stoves, fireplaces and generators.

If you suddenly feel sick, do not waste time on ventilation, but immediately leave the room and call the emergency services, say doctors.

If the person next to you has fainted, take them to fresh air, check their breathing, turn the person on their side and call an ambulance.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economy explained whether there will be a shortage of fuel in Ukraine due to the use of generators.

We will remind that two families, including a 4-year-old child, suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning in the Kyiv region.

Another man died.
