In Britain, the 6-year-old boy who was the only survivor of a total of four boys who fell into a frozen lake in a suburb of Birmingham on Sunday has died.

The incident happened when the ice broke on a lake in a park in Solihull where children were playing.

Initially, the feet of one of the children fell into the ice and when trying to save him, the other three ended up in the icy waters.

The four children were immediately taken to hospitals after police and firefighters called for help, but three of them, aged 8, 10 and 11, were pronounced dead the next day.

All the children went to the hospital with heart attacks.

On Wednesday evening, West Midlands Police issued a statement that it was with great sadness that they had to announce that a fourth boy, aged six, had also lost his battle for life.

One of the police rescuers also went to the hospital with hypothermia after breaking the ice to gain access to the children and help save them.

He is a young man a little over 20 years old.

A huge pile of flowers, toys and cards has been collected on the shore of the lake in memory of the deceased.

Candles were lit.

Stars from Aston Villa football club came to the scene of the accident and laid flowers.
