At least 141 people were killed in floods and landslides caused by heavy rains from late Monday night to early Tuesday in the outer districts of Kinshasa, the capital of the African country Congo.

This figure was made public by the local authorities late on Tuesday night.

Heavy rains killed 141 people, while 38,787 homes were inundated, according to a statement by the Kinshasa provincial public health ministry.

Around 280 houses collapsed there.
