"64 soldiers from the Ukrainian armed forces who fought in the Donetsk and Luhansk areas (Eastern Ukraine) have returned home," said the head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky - Andriy Yermak.

Murekezi was arrested in June in eastern Ukraine, then charged in early August with "participating in pro-Ukrainian and anti-Russian demonstrations" and "inciting racial hatred" in Kherson at the start of the conflict.

According to the US citizen's lawyer, his client happened to be at these demonstrations by accident, he never took part in military operations in the Donetsk region, and in Kherson he worked in a night club.

"During today's exchange, the bodies of four killed Ukrainian servicemen were also returned to Ukraine," Andriy Yermak also pointed out.
