In Georgia, recordings from surveillance cameras in the chamber of the country's ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili were published, accusing him of simulation, although the footage shows the exhaustion of the politician.

The Special Penitentiary Service of Georgia posted the relevant clip on the Internet.

Note that the video was published on the same day that Saakashvili announced that he was resuming his hunger strike. 

The penitentiary service explained the publication of these footage as high public interest.

The state body also stated that the video

allegedly "clearly shows mimetic actions of Mikheil Saakashvili

, the purpose of which is to obstruct the administration of justice, mislead society and international partners."

In addition, the service accused the ex-president of Georgia of mistreatment of personnel and aggressive behavior.

the mentioned video material clearly shows Mikheil Saakashvili's simulated actions, the purpose of which is to obstruct the administration of justice, to mislead the public and international partners.

The video footage shows the state's attitude towards Mikheil Saakashvili, as well as Mikheil Saakashvili's attitude towards the medical staff, in particular the facts of abuse and aggressive behavior on his part.

It will be recalled that in 2018, the Tbilisi City Court found Saakashvili guilty in absentia of "abuse of official authority" and sentenced the politician to three years in prison.

Later, the court found Saakashvili guilty of beating deputy Valery Gelashvili and sentenced him to 6 years in prison with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a period of more than two years.

Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1, 2021, immediately after his return to the country on the eve of local elections.

The ex-president of Georgia considers himself a political prisoner and several times declared a hunger strike, which he stopped and then resumed. 

Saakashvili's health has been extremely difficult for a long time, and in July 2022, his lawyer announced that the former president of Georgia was retiring from politics.
