Russia remains one of NATO's main threats, despite the fact that in the long term the Alliance intends to contain China.

This was stated by US Ambassador to NATO Julianna Smith,

reports

the Voice of America.

She noted that the Russian aggression against Ukraine showed that the current leadership of the Kremlin is acting irrationally.

Smith noted that Russia has not been able to achieve its goals since the start of the war, but that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not always align his strategic goals and his intentions with opportunities.

"He has shown us that he is quite reckless and unpredictable, and so I think we have to be prepared for any unforeseen situations. So the United States, and I think in NATO, we believe that we should not do hasty conclusions that somehow it does not deserve all our attention now," the ambassador said.

Smith called for careful monitoring of changes in Russia in the coming years, despite the growing threat in the Pacific and Indian Ocean region.

She added that aid to Ukraine has already become more coherent and coordinated between partners, so it has every chance to provide the Armed Forces with everything necessary to protect Ukraine.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that the Secretary General of NATO and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

of the Netherlands discussed increasing the supply of weapons to Ukraine
