Jharkhand's special MP/MLA court on Tuesday convicted 13 people, including Congress MLA from Ramgarh seat Mamta Devi, for five years each in the firing incident during the agitation for the closure of Inland Power Limited Company in 2016. Sentenced to imprisonment.

Government advocate Shankar Banerjee told that the judge Pawan Kumar of the special MP/MLA court of Hazaribagh pronounced the sentence today.

On December 8 itself, the court convicted all of them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder, and sent them to jail.

The court sentenced all the criminals today in this case through video conferencing.

Significantly, in 2016, two people were killed and a dozen others, including magistrates and policemen, were injured in a firing incident during the agitation for the closure of the Inland Power Limited Company in Ramgarh.

Government advocate Banerjee said that in this case of August 29, 2016, the court sentenced all the thirteen criminals, including MLA Mamta Devi, to five years each under section 333 of the Indian Penal Code for causing injury to a public servant or officer while discharging his duty. sentenced to imprisonment.

He said that apart from this, the court sentenced him to imprisonment for two years under section 148 of the Indian Penal Code, two years under section 332, and five years under section 307 related to attempt to murder.

He told that the court also imposed a fine of ten thousand rupees on the MLA under section 333 and 307.

The court separately sentenced Rajeev Jaiswal, an aide of the MLA, to three years' rigorous imprisonment under Section 27 of the Arms Act.

The court directed all the sentences to run together, due to which all the criminals, including the MLA, would have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for five years each.

Apart from this, if he does not pay the fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months.

Meanwhile, in Hazaribagh, State Working President of Congress Shahzada Anwar while talking about respecting the court's decision also said that due to today's decision, there is a lot of anger among the people in Hazaribagh, which will come out in some democratic way.

He said that the decision of the court in this matter will also be challenged in the High Court.
