From December 2021 to the Bundestag and added, apparently referring to Hungary, that attempts to undermine the bloc's values by blocking measures in foreign policy will fail, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

"Anyone who thinks they can undermine the EU values that every member state has committed to by blocking its foreign policy and security policy will fail in that attempt," Scholz told MPs today.

Olaf Scholz: Germany will emerge from the crisis stronger

According to Scholz, Russian President Vladimir Putin has failed to achieve any of his goals in the war in Ukraine, DPA reported.

"None of Putin's plans worked," Scholz told the Bundestag, adding that Putin had fundamentally miscalculated.

He believed that his troops would take over Ukraine in a few days and that Europe and the democratic West were too divided to help Ukraine effectively, the German chancellor said.

"He (Putin) believed he could dry up European solidarity by turning off the gas tap for us," Scholz said.

Putin was wrong "for the courage of the Ukrainians, for Europe, for us, for the character of our democracies, for our will to oppose the mania for great power and imperialism," Scholz said.
