Six people, including two police officers, have been killed in a shooting at a house in the state of Queensland in Australia.

Constables Matthew Arnold, 26 and Rachel McCrow, 29, were called to investigate reports of a missing person.

After arriving at the scene as they approached the entrance, the police were shot by two armed criminals, who were reportedly wearing camouflage clothing.

Air defense support responded to the attack where one person was shot dead.

A member of the public who tried to come to the aid of the officers was also killed in the first attack, and two other police officers were taken to hospital.

According to The Australian newspaper, one was shot in the leg and escaped while four ran into the bushes to hide.

The newspaper quoted a police source as saying that after the two officers were wounded, one or both of the armed men stood over the two and shot them.
