Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the G7 to provide weapons and natural gas at an online meeting of leaders of the Group of Seven Industrial Nations (G7) on the 12th.

The G7 also issued a statement afterwards, stating that it will continue to work to strengthen Ukraine's military capabilities and focus on providing air defense systems.

According to comprehensive foreign media reports, Russia's air strikes on key infrastructure in Ukraine have left millions of people without electricity in the severe cold. Zelensky called on the G7 to provide an additional 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to cope with energy shortages.

"The terrorist attack on our country's power plants has forced us to use more natural gas than expected. That's why we need extra support in this particular winter," Zelensky said.

Zelensky also called on the G7 to provide Ukraine with armaments such as modern tanks, artillery and long-range weapons, stressing that "Russia still has an advantage in artillery and missiles".

In his speech, Zelensky emphasized that Russia's irresponsible remarks on nuclear weapons are unacceptable, and any use of chemical weapons, biological weapons and nuclear weapons will lead to serious consequences.
