New Delhi:

The Supreme Court

has accepted the anticipatory bail plea of businessmen Raj Kundra, Poonam Pandey, Sherlyn Chopra and Umesh Kamat in connection with the FIR lodged against them for allegedly distributing videos containing obscene material.

A bench of Justice MK Joseph and Justice BV Nagaratna directed Kundra and other accused to cooperate in the investigation.

The bench said, "After hearing the arguments of the counsel for both the sides, we are of the view that anticipatory bail can be granted to the petitioners."

Senior advocate R Basant, appearing for one of the petitioners, argued that a charge sheet has already been filed in the case and the accused are cooperating with the police in the investigation.

The apex court had earlier granted interim protection from arrest to Kundra in this case.

A case was registered against Kundra under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and the Information Technology Act for allegedly distributing/broadcasting obscene videos.

Chopra and Pandey have been made co-accused in the FIR.

Kundra's lawyers claimed that he was not involved in any way in the content creation, publication or transmission of the alleged illegal video, while the actresses, who have been named as accused, had given full consent to shoot the video.
