Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba admits that Russia may resume a major
offensive
at the end of January-February 2023.
However, Ukraine is doing everything possible to prevent this from happening.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this during an online briefing.
"I think the Russian ability to launch a major offensive, which
will probably be restored sometime in late January or February
... is what they're trying to do. And we're certainly doing everything we can to prevent that from happening. I don't I say for sure that this is happening. But, taking into account the mobilization, the announced conscription and training of new conscripts, the movement of their heavy weapons in the country -
they undoubtedly maintain hopes that they will be able to break through our defense lines and advance deep into Ukraine.
We are doing everything to to make it impossible.
And I firmly believe that they will not succeed
, "said Kuleba.
The minister also added that Ukraine is doing everything to speed up victory and any decision to end the war will be based on the withdrawal of Russian troops from all territories of Ukraine as of 2014.
"But we are making every effort.
And if it happens in the summer, it would certainly be great news
," Kuleba said.
Threat of attack from Belarus
Military and political commentator Oleksandr Kovalenko
believes
that the threat from Belarus was, is, and will be as long as the war continues and as long as the so-called president Oleksandr Lukashenko is there.
But now this threat is minimal.
According to
Russian oppositionist and human rights activist Mark Feigin, the Kremlin is seriously considering a second offensive by Belarus.
At the same time, the spokesman of the State Security Service Andriy Demchenko
commented on the sudden check of the combat readiness of the troops of Belarus
.
He emphasized that there is no threat of a new invasion yet.
