Turkey

has discovered a new oil field in the area of Mount Habar in the north-east of the country.

This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reports Anadolu.

"This is one of the ten largest deposits discovered on land in 2022," the president emphasized.

According to the Turkish leader, the net volume of discovered oil reserves is 150 million barrels.

The cost is estimated at approximately $12 billion. It is noted that five thousand barrels of oil per day are produced from four wells in this region.

Erdogan says that the daily production of the Turkish national oil company Türkiye Petrolleri has now increased to 65,000 barrels per day, compared to about 40,000 barrels five years ago.

At most, the Turkish authorities plan to increase daily oil production to 100,000 barrels.

"While many oil and gas companies "give up" during the pandemic, Türkiye Petrolleri has accelerated its exploration and production activities.

In 2021 alone, 34 more fields were discovered, and we added another 71 million barrels to our current reserves," the Turkish president added.
