In Ankara, the event "Heydar Aliyev and TURKSOY" dedicated to the memorial day of the national leader Heydar Aliyev was held in the TURKSOY building with the joint organization of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Turkey and TURKSOY.

According to a statement from the embassy to APA's Istanbul office, the event, attended by parliamentarians from Azerbaijan and Turkey, representatives of the diplomatic corps, state officials, intellectuals, representatives of non-governmental organizations and public representatives, began with the opening of a photo and book exhibition dedicated to the national leader.

The participants were informed about the meaningful life and activity of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.

Heydar Aliyev's views on TURKSOY and his meetings with the organization were reflected in the short film shown at the event.

General Secretary Sultan Rayev made an opening speech and spoke about the role of the national leader in the creation of TURKSOY and the special attention he paid to the organization.

The ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkey, Rashad Mammadov, spoke about the important role of Heydar Aliyev in the history of Azerbaijan, his services in the establishment of Azerbaijan statehood, and emphasized the great leader's special attention to cooperation with Turkic-speaking countries.

Narrating his memories of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, Rector of Ankara University Necdet Ünüvar noted that he witnessed his love for Turkey closely during his meetings with the national leader.

Rector said that in order to perpetuate the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the soil brought from different regions of Azerbaijan was sprinkled under the tree planted by him in the courtyard of the university.

Hikmet Babaoglu, a deputy of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis, spoke at the event and spoke about the contribution of National leader Heydar Aliyev to the formation of Azerbaijani culture in the 20th century.

Head of Turkey-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group Shamil Ayrim drew attention to raising Azerbaijan-Turkey relations to the level of strategic alliance.

Emphasizing Turkey's support to Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War, the MP said that Turkey will always be equal to Azerbaijan.

Aygün Attar, head of Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship, Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation, emphasized the great leader's leadership qualities, love for the Motherland, devotion to the people, and drew attention to the fact that he laid the foundation for the unity of the Turkish states.

Ahliman Amiraslanov, a member of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis and the head of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Inter-Parliamentary Working Group, spoke about the works done by Heydar Aliyev for the development of science, culture and education in the Turkish republics during the time when he was still under the leadership of the USSR.

He noted that he won the love of the people not only in Azerbaijan, but in the whole Turkic world.

After the speeches, the presentation of the book "The Blessed Path of TURKSOY", which tells about the establishment and activities of TURKSOY, was held.

Sabir Shahtakti, who prepared the book, gave a speech and informed about the process of creating the book.

He said that the book begins with the words of National leader Heydar Aliyev, who pays special attention to TURKSOY.

Yagub Ömaroğlu, Chairman of the Eurasian Writers' Union, pointed out that TURKSOY was the first organization established by the Turkish states and noted that the success of this organization led to the establishment of other organizations of the Turkish states.

At the end of the event, Sabir Shahtakti was presented with the "Ahmed Javad-130" medal founded by TURKSOY for the mentioned book.
