The next meeting of the Commission established by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan "On measures to strengthen the social protection of military personnel of the Azerbaijan Army" dated December 28, 2011 was held.

"APA-Economics" informs that according to the Decree, it is planned to provide apartments purchased at the expense of state funds to military personnel who have served 20 calendar years and more in the Azerbaijan Armed Forces.

Samir Sharifov, chairman of the commission, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan, opened the meeting and said that thanks to the special attention and concern of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, consistent measures are being taken to improve the social and household conditions of military personnel and provide them with housing.

For the implementation of these measures, an appropriate amount of funds is allocated within the means of the state budget every year.

During the past period, hundreds of servicemen of the Armed Forces were provided with apartments by benefiting from this important social program of the state.

At the meeting of the commission, based on the list presented by the Ministry of Defense, decisions were made to provide fully renovated apartments to 478 military personnel who are currently waiting for housing in Baku and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

It was noted that 20 of them are the families of martyred servicemen.

In general, thanks to the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 2 thousand 686 military personnel who served for 20 years and more, and 26 families of martyred military personnel were provided with apartments by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

Also, at the meeting, the next 942 military personnel, who were entitled to buy housing based on the list presented by the Ministry of Defense, were placed in the housing queue, and thus the total number of military personnel standing in the housing queue reached 2 thousand 302 people.
