The committee suggested that the Director General (Prisons) should implement a standard operating procedure.

New Delhi:

A committee set up to probe allegations of "special facilities" inside Tihar Jail in Delhi has recommended framing of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and installation of CCTV cameras inside the offices of jail superintendents and their representatives.

Officials gave this information on Monday.

A committee under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (Home) was constituted to investigate the matter related to alleged VIP facilities being given to Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain, lodged in Tihar Jail.

Jain has been in jail for over six months in a money laundering case registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Recently several videos of Jain had surfaced in which he was allegedly seen getting special facilities like massage inside the jail.

The ED also produced CCTV footage from Jain's jail cell in the court.

The committee suggested in its report that the Director General (Prisons) should implement a standard operating procedure and use biometric system to eliminate misuse.

It was alleged that influential inmates used the jail card to buy various items for themselves inside the jail.
