The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been defeated in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022, and the practice of changing the ruling party every five years in the state continues.

Now the Congress government has been formed in the hill state, and Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has become the new Chief Minister of the state.

BJP leader and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has lost all the five assembly seats in his parliamentary constituency in this election, for which he is being criticized within the party itself, but Anurag Thakur was seen playing cricket in Varanasi on Saturday.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur was seen playing cricket during the 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' friendly match in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi district on Saturday.

Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Dr. L. Murugan was also present during the program.

It is noteworthy that in the results of Himachal elections 2022, BJP has lost all the five assembly seats falling in Anurag Thakur's Lok Sabha constituency Hamirpur.

The Congress candidate from Sujanpur, the constituency of Premkumar Dhumal, father of former chief minister and Anurag Thakur, won by 399 votes.

Dhumal was not given ticket in these elections, and he himself said that he has decided to retire from politics.

Apart from this, the BJP candidate lost by just 60 votes in Bhoranj seat.

An independent candidate defeated BJP in Hamirpur assembly seat, while Congress candidates won in Barsar and Nadaun seats.

In the election results that came on December 8, 2022, i.e. last Thursday, the Congress crossed the majority mark by winning 40 seats in Himachal, a state with a total of 68 assembly seats, while the BJP, which was in power till last week, won only 25 seats.

Other candidates won three seats.
