The Ministry of Civil Aviation and the airport have made a four-point plan to reduce the freight at Delhi Airport.

New Delhi:

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reached the airport on Monday accompanied by senior officials of his ministry after social media was flooded with complaints about long queues and inordinate delay in check-in at the Delhi airport.

In the pictures found, Jyotiraditya Scindia can be seen talking to the administrative officers and security officers of the airport.

Several passengers had to wait for a long time on Sunday, and many of them posted about the problem on social media, as well as pictures of the crowd at Terminal 3 (T3) of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) shared.

In response to a passenger's tweet, the Delhi airport had said that it has deployed officials to help passengers and reduce inconvenience.

Complaining about the long queues, the passenger had said that now there is a need to build new terminals.

Delhi Airport had said in a tweet, "Rest assured, passenger convenience is paramount for us, and we always strive to improve the same... We have taken cognizance of your comments, and forwarded them to the concerned agency. .. Even after this you can send your feedback directly to CISF HQ..."

The Delhi Airport and the Ministry of Civil Aviation have drawn up a four-point plan to decongest the airport, and address complaints of overcrowding and long queues during check-in.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had also met the officials earlier this week.

X-ray screening systems will be increased, reserve lounges will be eliminated, and an Automatic Tray Retrieval System (ATRS) machine and two X-ray machines will be installed.

Two entry points - Gate 1A and Gate 8B will be opened for passenger use.

The country's largest airport IGIA has three terminals - T1, T2 and T3.

All international and some domestic flights operate from T3 only.

The airport handles an average of 1.90 lakh passengers and 1,200 flights daily.
