During blackouts, when the elevators are not working, and if they are working, they are dangerous to use, you can get stuck, residents of high-rise buildings are forced to go up and down the stairs.

For the elderly, this is a whole ordeal.

Even young people feel tired and even short of breath after climbing to the 20th floor.

Cardiologists of the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine provided advice on how to reduce the load in this case.

How to climb the stairs to the upper floors so as not to harm the heart and health:

  • Do not immediately try to overcome the stairs quickly and impulsively - physical activity should be gradual from weak to moderate.

  • Start climbing at a slow pace, if you can, then at an average pace.

Make stops after five minutes for one or two minutes.

During this period, the heart has time to restore its rhythm.

  • Stick to your rhythm, don't change it.

Go up in one, as calm as possible rhythm, which is most comfortable for you

  • When going down the stairs, take care of your knees.

Do not overload them, because even a minor injury can significantly complicate the ascents and descents in the future.

  • Descend carefully, slowly and without jumping.

    Take your time, be careful.

  • Try to stand on a full foot and distribute the load on both legs.

These simple tips will help to protect health, train the heart, and young people - to pump up their legs and buttocks.
