New raids related to allegations of corruption were carried out this afternoon, including one in the European Parliament, the Belgian prosecutor's office told the media, DPA reported.

The purpose of the search, which took place in Parliament, was to collect data, the statement said.

A total of 20 searches were carried out, of which 19 were carried out in private homes.

Some searches were carried out in Italy.

During searches of three different places, several hundred thousand euros were seized.

"600,000 euros in a suspect's home, several hundred thousand euros in a suitcase in a hotel room in Brussels and around 150,000 euros in an apartment belonging to a member of the European Parliament," the statement said.

Four people, including Eva Kyle, the vice-president of the European Parliament, are in custody on charges of participation in a criminal organization, money laundering and corruption.
