Russia is attacking Ukraine with our X-55 missiles, which the Ukrainian side transferred to the Russians in the 1990s within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum.

Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, told about this in an interview with The New York Times.

He explained that the X-55 missiles were manufactured in the 1970s to carry a nuclear warhead.

The Russians removed the warhead and added ballast to disguise the fact that it was not carrying a payload.

According to Skibitskyi, the Russian Federation uses Kh-55 missiles as a decoy and a false target for Ukrainian air defense.

These missiles were manufactured at a Ukrainian factory and were part of the arsenal transferred to Russia by Ukraine in the 1990s as part of an international agreement aimed at ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.

According to the GUR, at least three missiles were manufactured in Ukraine.

In addition, Skibitsky does not rule out that the Russian Federation uses Ukrainian fighter jets transferred under the same agreement to bomb Ukraine.

"All ballistic missiles, Tu-160 and Tu-95 strategic bombers were handed over. Now these bombers are dropping Kh-55 missiles on us. It would be better if we handed them over to the USA," said the representative of the GUR.
