On December 12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Portugal Mr. Joao Gomes Cravinho as part of his business trip to Belgium.

According to the information given to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, the ministers reviewed the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Portugal and noted that there is potential for the development of various aspects of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan-European Union relations were also touched upon.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that there is a wide potential for the development of economic-trade and investment relations between our countries at the level of bilateral relations.

Also, views were exchanged on issues related to energy security.

Azerbaijan's work and prospects in the field of energy security, export of energy resources to Europe and development of alternative energy resources were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his colleague about the post-conflict situation in the region, the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the direction of peace building in the region, the restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated areas, "green energy" projects, as well as brought to the attention of the other side the ongoing mine threats.

Minister João Gomes Cravinho said that his country is interested in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
