In the correctional colony in the Kaluga region, prisoners who opposed conscription for the war were beaten.

The head of the region promised to conduct an inspection.

This is reported by Meduza.

The founder of the human rights project Gulagu.net, Volodymyr Osyechkin, published a photo and video "from the official archive of IC-4 UFSIN in the Kaluga region."

According to him, the fighters of the FSVP special unit and operatives "decided to conduct "educational work" with prisoners who refused to go to participate in the war against Ukraine based on their beliefs and also did not approve of sending other convicts to war."

The governor reacted to the report and promised to check the fact of the beating of prisoners in the Kaluga colony.

Prisoners in Russian colonies are actively recruited by the "Wagner" PPC, the owner of the company, Yevhen Prigozhin, personally visits the penal institutions.

Olha Romanova, head of the "Sitting Russia" human rights project, said in September that 11,000 prisoners could be recruited into the PVC.

Later, "Mediazona" drew attention to the fact that in September-October, the number of prisoners in Russian correctional colonies decreased by 23,000 people.

This is more than as a result of amnesties in recent years.

We will remind that in the occupied Kadiivka, Luhansk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine targeted the hotel, where the fighters of the "Wagner" PMK were staying.
