Europe may not experience an energy shortage this winter, but next year could be much more severe, International Energy Agency (IEA) President Fatih Birol said, quoted by Reuters.

"The crisis is not over. The next year could be more difficult than the current one," he told reporters in Brussels.

According to him, the cause of the difficulties will be the cessation of Russian gas imports, the potential shortage of liquefied natural gas, as well as "unusually mild weather" in 2022.
