Next year, we plan to increase oil production to 100,000 barrels per day, Erdogan said at the Innovation Week event in Istanbul.

According to local media reports, large oil reserves have recently been discovered in Şırnak County in southeastern Turkey.

Erdoğan also spoke about the works to connect the gas pipeline under construction from the Sakarya field in the Black Sea to the national distribution system.

Erdogan discussed the idea of a gas hub in Turkey with the head of Gazprom

Thanks to the information about available 540 billion cubic meters of gas reserves in the Black Sea, we have started a new period in the energy sector and we continue to work in this direction without anyone's help, the president added.

Earlier, the Turkish authorities announced that the supply of gas from the Black Sea fields to consumers will begin in March 2023. The Sakarya gas field is believed to be the largest, with reserves of over 400 billion cubic meters.

At an initial stage, this field is planned to produce about 10 million cubic meters of gas per day, or 3.4 to 4 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

By 2027-2028, daily gas production should reach 40 million cubic meters, and the annual volume should increase to 15 billion cubic meters.
