Diana Rusinova from the European Center for Transport Policies stated on bTV that at the place in Svilengradsko, where the serious bus accident took place with one dead and many injured, there is no marking and there are no road signs.

"We are talking about a case in which, once again, the owner of the road did not do his job.

Therefore, the driver made a mistake.

We cannot categorically deny that the driver made a mistake, but we must answer the question why he made it", she added.

Rusinova explained that the road on which the accident happened is II-55, for which there are numerous signals.

"This is the road that starts in Veliko Tarnovo and ends at Svilengrad, the Passage of the Republic passes through it.

In this particular place, there is extremely slippery asphalt, lack of any markings, especially regarding the end lines of the road, lack of road signs," she added.

Rusinova, explained that according to the project, there should be a sign there to indicate to the drivers that a dangerous left turn is coming.

The rescuers from the overturned bus: People were shouting, the shock was very great

"There are numerous traces of previous blows there.

Locals also say that there are many road accidents in the area.

Once out of town there is a single sign stating that if there is snow and wintry conditions you should put on chains.

Then there is a sign for a dangerous right turn with no overtaking and then almost 1.5-2 km.

there is no other road sign to the place of the accident," she stated.

"It is claimed by the regional road administration that there should be a sign for a dangerous left turn with a speed limit of 40 km/h.

But after the settlement, the speed limit is 90 km/h, i.e.

before that there should have been a 60 km/h sign, gradually then reduced to 40 km/h or some other reasonable speed.

There are no signs, it was dark, it was raining, the driver may have gone astray," Rusinova explained.

She added that API is not doing its job.

"There is total negligence, we cannot continue in this way without taking measures for roads for which we know there is a problem," said Rusinova.
