An old man surnamed Hu in Taichung City was riding a motorcycle and turned left at the intersection of Daxing 1st Street and Daxing Road in Taiping. He was hit by a pickup truck driven by a driver surnamed Chen.

[Reporter Chen Jianzhi/Taichung Report] An 85-year-old man surnamed Hu in Taichung City was riding a bicycle at the intersection of Daxing Road and Daxing 1st Street in Taiping District where there were no traffic lights at 1:00 p.m. The pickup truck driven by the driver (59 years old) crashed into the collision. Hu Nan was not breathing or had a heartbeat after being hit. He was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment but still died. For the situation of not driving into the oncoming lane according to the regulations, the detailed responsibility for the accident needs to be further clarified.

The car accident happened around 1:34 p.m. today. The Taichung City Fire Department received a report and dispatched the Zhongshan Unit to the scene for rescue. When they arrived, they found the old man surnamed Hu (85 years old) who was riding the bike lying on the ground. He was not breathing or had a heartbeat at the scene. He went to the National Army Taichung General Hospital for first aid, but due to his serious injuries, he was still pronounced dead at 2:29 p.m.

The police conducted a preliminary investigation. At that time, the old man surnamed Hu was riding a bicycle from Daxing 1st Street and wanted to turn left to Daxing Road. The driver surnamed Chen was driving a pickup truck on Daxing Road towards Zhongshan Road. Hu Nan turned left at the intersection and was driven by Chen Nan shortly after. The small truck collided with the intersection, and there were no traffic lights at the intersection.
