If you have a cold or flu, fever, diarrhea, or COVID-19, continue to breastfeed as usual.

Your baby won't get an infection through breast milk - in fact, it will contain antibodies to reduce the risk of getting the same disease.

UNICEF Ukraine writes about this.

Some diseases are still a contraindication to breastfeeding - this is the active phase of herpes infection, HIV infection, Ebola virus, brucellosis.

With tuberculosis, you can feed a child with expressed milk, but not breast.

There are medications that can be used while breastfeeding, and there are medications that cannot.

Before taking the drug, carefully read the instructions for it or consult with your doctor.

This can be done over the phone or through an online consultation.

Also, do not forget to warn that you are breastfeeding when you are prescribed treatment.

If you feel too unwell to feed your baby, ask loved ones for help.

Relatives can bring the baby to feed and pick it up when finished.

If you have to be in the hospital due to illness, express milk so that relatives can give it to the child who remains at home.

If you have had to stop breastfeeding due to illness or medication, it is very important to continue to express milk according to the usual number of feedings.

This will help you resume breastfeeding as soon as possible.

Like any adult, a breastfeeding woman can be vaccinated against various diseases.

Vaccination is not a reason to stop breastfeeding.
