Since midnight, the 1,000-megawatt unit 6 of the Kozloduy NPP has been shut down for repairs to eliminate a technical problem.

The shutdown is not expected to lead to power supply problems, as our country has sufficient capacity.

This was stated by Angelin Tsachev - executive director of the Electricity System Operator, reports BNR.

The 6th unit of the Kozloduy NPP will not work during the Christmas holidays, until December 26, according to the request submitted by the plant to the Electricity System Operator (ESO).

I don't expect there to be any serious problems with the provision of electrical energy.

The reason - "at this moment, exports to other countries in the region are over 30,000 megawatt hours per day, and the unit at the Kozloduy NPP actually produces 24,000 megawatt hours per day. Separately, the 7th unit at the TPP will also come into operation next week "Maritsa East 2", explained Tsachev.

Water supplies can be relied upon for a short time.

"We have enough reserve in the water plants to provide the necessary operational reserves in the system. But to count on the water plants alone to provide the energy for all consumption is, to say the least, frivolous given the drought in the fall and the last winter months," said the executive director of the Electric Power Company system operator.

"Certainly there will be energy for the market, it is a separate question what the price of that energy will be, as the loss of a thousand megawatts of production across the region will cause an additional shortage in the already deficient region of South East Europe, which is likely to lead to to higher prices," added Tsachev.
