At the summit of the Supreme Eurasian Council in Bishkek on December 9, Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus and Russia have abandoned the use of the dollar in "basic calculations".

"It is important that other partners actively join this process," BelTA quotes Alexander Lukashenko's statement at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Council in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).

Lukashenko tried to convince his colleagues of the need to "rehabilitate the circulatory system" of this union.

"I'm talking about finances.

It is already clear to everyone: the era of dominance of the dollar is coming to an end.

The future lies with trade blocs, which will be settled in national currencies," he added.

The National Bank of Belarus announced that from December 12, the euro will be excluded from the basket of currencies.

Its share will be taken by the Russian ruble;

accordingly, its share in the basket of currencies will be 60%.

From July 15, 2022, the currency basket consisted of the following: Russian ruble - 50%, dollar - 30%, euro - 10%, Chinese yuan - 10%.

Now it looks like this: Russian ruble - 60%, dollar - 30%, Chinese yuan - 10%.

According to Beroc senior researcher Lev Lvovsky, this indicates the end of the period of trade diversification, when the Belarusian authorities tried to trade equally with Russia and the European Union.
