A Jharkhand court on Thursday convicted Congress MLA from the area Mamta Devi and six others in a case related to firing at the premises of a private industrial company in Ramgarh.

The convicts will be sentenced on December 12. After being convicted, the MLA was taken to Hazaribagh Central Jail.

In August 2016, two persons were killed in a clash between villagers and the police at the premises of Inland Power Limited under Rajarappa police station in Ramgarh district, about 50 km from state capital Ranchi. An FIR was lodged against Devi and others.

Mamta Devi and others were directed to appear on December 12. Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge Pawan Kumar of the Hazaribagh civil court, which functions as an MP-MLA court, will pronounce the sentence.
