The prosecutor imprisoned the oppositionist for 9 years.

The court recognized his "guilt" in spreading "fakes" about the Russian army as fully proven.

Yashin did not admit his guilt.

"The court sentenced me to 8 years and 6 months in prison. Well, the authors of the sentence are optimistic about Putin's prospects. In my opinion, they are too optimistic," he said.

Yashin is sure that he and his associates have won this case and explained why he thinks so.

"You and I won this trial, friends. The process was intended as an exposure of the "enemy of the people" in my person, but turned into an anti-war tribune. We spoke the truth about war crimes and called for an end to the bloodshed. And in response, we heard a mixture of slogans from the Cold War era, which was confusedly voiced by the prosecutor," the politician believes.
