There will be no summit between India and Russia this year

New Delhi:

The possibility of a summit between India and Russia this year is now less visible.

Sources told NDTV that PM Modi and Russian President Putin may not meet at the annual summit this year. For PM Modi, the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia this year will be the last summit for which he will go abroad.

This dialogue took place between India and Russia in December last year.

During that time Russian President Putin had come on a six-hour visit to India.

Now this year Russia was to organize this conference.

But Russia has been fighting a war with Ukraine for the last 11 months, due to which no formal announcement has been made about the dates of this conference.

Now the year is about to end, so there is little chance of this conference happening now.

Let us tell you that in this conference held last year, India talked to Russia on many important issues.

During that time, in "2 + 2" defense and foreign minister level talks with Russia, India had described "extraordinary militarization" in its neighborhood and "unprovoked aggression" on the northern border as major challenges before the country. .

In his opening remarks at the talks, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had claimed that India is confident of overcoming challenges because of its strong political will and the inherent capabilities of its people.

Apart from Singh, the talks were attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and Russia's Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu.

Defense Minister Singh had said that many challenges have arisen from the pandemic, extraordinary militarization in our neighbourhood, proliferation of armaments and unprovoked aggression on our northern border since the summer of 2020.

However, Singh did not name China while referring to the unprovoked aggression in eastern Ladakh.
