A man suspected of beating and torturing fellow villagers was detained in the Odesa region.

This was reported to the regional police.

A relative of two brothers, 40 and 49 years old, from Baltska OTG contacted the police and said that they had been beaten.

The men said that the fellow villager had called them to the abandoned shack ostensibly to talk, but actually accused them of stealing watermelons from a melon farm.

"The men's objections only angered their interlocutor, and he, taking advantage of his physical strength, began to beat the brothers on the head with his fists, on the body with a stick, tied a rope to the leg of the younger man, dragged him along the ground, forcing him to confess to stealing the crop." the police report says.

Investigators charged the defendant with torture.

This crime is provided for in part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
