The drones that attacked Russian airfields were jointly developed by the government and private business, and their production can be quick and cheap.

This is reported by the Financial Times with reference to its own sources.

A Ukrainian engineer who builds drones for military requirements said on condition of anonymity that the drones used in the latest attacks could travel at speeds close to the speed of sound.

However, it takes time to produce such equipment from scratch and replenish their stocks, the engineer said on condition of anonymity.

“If these are the same drones that were used during the attack on Sevastopol [naval base], that was more than a month ago.

To change the course of the war, Ukraine needs long-range strike drones that are cheap and quick to manufacture," he said.

At the same time, an adviser to the Ukrainian government on defense matters, who wished to remain unnamed, noted that the Ukrainian army no longer has distance restrictions for retaliatory strikes, and soon "we will be able to achieve all goals inside Russia — in particular, in Siberia."

He also emphasized that the drones were not manufactured by Ukroboronprom and they are not advanced Soviet devices - TU-141 unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, as claimed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The unnamed official called the weapon a joint initiative between the government and the private sector, which could produce new drones "frequently."

He also suggested that the strike drones used navigation systems that do not require a satellite connection to find their targets.

Although they are less accurate than GPS, they cannot be jammed.

This made it difficult to intercept them and allowed them to penetrate through Russian air defense.

"This technology is accurate enough to send people on rockets to the moon, which is much more difficult than hitting a huge Russian air base at a distance of 1,000 km," the expert noted.

It will be recalled that on December 5, explosions rang out in Russia at Diaghilev and Engels airfields, as a result of which two Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers were damaged.

It is precisely such planes that the enemy uses for missile strikes on Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that its government is responsible for what is happening on the territory of Russia.

The US State Department stated that it did not provide Ukraine with weapons that would allow it to strike on the territory of Russia.
