Journalists of "Channel 5" starred for the charity nudist calendar "Uncensored" to raise funds to help the Ukrainian army.

However, their initiative caused an ambiguous reaction in the media community - the act of the journalists was condemned by some colleagues.

TSN.ua found out the details of the scandal.

The editors of Channel 5 released a calendar with candid photos for Armed Forces Day, which was celebrated on December 6.

The declared goal is a voluntary collection of 1 million hryvnias for walkie-talkies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

TV channel operator

Hanka Kudryavtseva

, who travels to the front, admitted that the charity calendar was her "insidious plan, because the guys on the front line love it."

"I have a friend in the marines, I won't say who... It's no secret that the military loves nudes very much, and they ask for them a lot. And my friend says: "Maybe you have girlfriends there or someone else, well I really want to see something beautiful." The eyes demand to see something beautiful, because there are always the same broken houses, war," said Kudryavtseva.

This is how a team of 12 employees of the TV channel gathered - from presenters to those who have never worked in the frame.

The faces of the models are not visible on the pages of the calendar, but on the last page they all appear with their faces open.

So putting together the "body-face" puzzle will remain a task for the owners of the calendar.

The authors of the idea promised that even the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny will have such a calendar.

However, the initiative immediately found critics.

Non-governmental organizations and media representatives issued a collective statement calling the idea "full of discriminatory and sexist narratives."

"This negates the work done by the media and civil society so that women in Ukraine, including military personnel, are not perceived as sexual objects. Military women themselves often face sexism and sexual violence and are forced to fight against these phenomena. We believe that it is necessary to raise money for the needs of the defenders of Ukraine in a way that does not involve the promotion of discriminatory and sexist narratives about women," says the statement in the Facebook community "

Women in Media

".

The authors of the petition called on the government commissioner for gender equality in Ukraine, the human rights commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the Journalistic Ethics Commission to assess the legality and ethics of Channel 5's actions.

The statement was signed by, in particular, the head of the NGO Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine "YurFem"

Khrystyna Kit

, the head of the NGO "Women in the Media"

Liza Kuzmenko

, the coordinator of the Campaign against Sexism in the Media and Politics "Povaga"

Anastasia Bagalika

, the head of the NGO "Detector Media"

Natalia Ligachova

.

Social networks are actively discussing the current situation.

Opinions regarding the "No Censorship" calendar are fundamentally divided.

"Dear Channel 5, if your military friends like nude photos, send them to private. Don't devalue the profession. Aren't there more ways to raise money?", journalist

Iryna Sampan

was indignant .

Journalist

Nataliya Ishchenko

advised the "Women in Media" community to direct their activity in another direction.

"I would direct the activity of human rights defenders to protect the right of Ukrainian citizens, primarily soldiers in the trenches, to have sex. Think about how to provide this basic need to a healthy young person, and under shelling, in the mud and in the cold. And this also applies to military women , not only men," Ishchenko writes.

Military serviceman

Mykhailo Shamanov

supported the journalists of Channel 5.

"I am a supporter of the rule - my body is my business. The calendar is beautiful. I would hang one at home. I bow to the girls for their courage. Everything that lifts the spirits of boys at zero is appropriate! Any help from the front is important! And the haters are just jealous! "

Economist

Serhiy Fursa

believes that declaring sexism when demonstrating the female body is sexism.

"It is right to fight for women's rights. It is right to fight against harassment. But why these skirmishes? Why fight with common sense? In the whole struggle for any rights, one must stop in time so as not to bring the situation to absurdity and to not to discredit the struggle itself," said Fursa.
