[Reporter Yang Chengyu/Taipei Report] The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023 (NDAA 2023), which was negotiated and finalized by the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, was announced on the evening of the 6th Eastern Time, and plans to provide Taiwan with US$10 billion in military aid in the next five years.

In this regard, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ou Jiangan responded at a regular press conference today (8th) that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sincere gratitude to the US Congress for its continued strong support for Taiwan's security.

Ou Jiangan pointed out that this is a version negotiated by the two houses of Congress, which is still to be voted on by the two houses of Congress.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to pay close attention to the follow-up developments, and maintain close communication and coordination with the US Congress and the executive branch. It is hoped that this bill will be successfully completed in the current session of the US Congress.

Our side will continue to work hard to deepen the friendly partnership between Taiwan and the United States, and fully cooperate to ensure a free, open, peaceful and stable Indo-Pacific region.
