Greece believes that Bulgaria has fulfilled the previously set criteria for Schengen membership.

This was stated by the President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the press conference in the presidency, after the head of state Rumen Radev awarded her with the "Stara Planina" order with a ribbon for her merits for the development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Greece.

The President of Greece is on an official visit to our country at the invitation of Rumen Radev.

According to her, this is also confirmed by the repeated assessment of the European Commission.

Radev welcomed Greek President Sakellaropoulou and awarded her with the "Stara Planina" Order

According to Sakellaropoulou, Bulgaria's membership in the Schengen area "should not be delayed any longer".

Greece consistently and permanently supports Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen Agreement.

The numerous current challenges require strengthening the European family and demonstrating solidarity within EU member states and Bulgaria in this case, commented the Greek president.

Sakellaropoulou added that the problems should be solved through dialogue and the disagreeing parties should agree with President Rumen Radev that Bulgaria and Romania guard European external borders.

The Stara Planina order, with which the president of Greece was awarded, reflects the excellent relations between the two countries, Katerina Sakellaropoulou believes.

She expressed hope that they will continue to improve.
