Media organization Politico compiled a rating of the most influential people in Europe in 2022.

Among them is Russian President Vladimir Putin.

His publication declared him the "loser of the year".

The reason for this, Politico believes, is his failure in Ukraine, which caused a loss of reputation not only in the world, but also in the Russian Federation itself.

"Vladimir Putin's dream of a great Russia is unlikely to come true. His full-scale offensive against Ukraine began to unravel almost as quickly as it began. It has reduced Russia to a third-tier country, unable to defeat an adversary it underestimated and despised. Putin's stubbornness means that the war is likely to drag on... Putin's failure to realize his dream does not mean he will no longer be a nightmare for his neighbors. Troops that briefly threatened Kiev are barely holding out in the country's east," Politico noted.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was recognized by the publication as the most influential person in Europe in 2022.

The article dedicated to Zelensky says:

"Just look at how European leaders are running to Kyiv to take a picture with the 44-year-old in his now iconic olive green T-shirt. Standing next to him, politicians are eager to be seen. Zelensky has convinced the rest of Europe that its future is tied to with Ukraine - few people believed in this before the Russian invasion in February," Politico notes.

We will remind that the American magazine Time

called the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the "spirit of Ukraine" the person of 2022

.

Earlier, according to the version of the Israeli publication The Jerusalem Post,

Zelenskyy topped the list of the 50

most influential Jews in the world.
